Just wondering if anyone has any favourite philosophers or philosophical works? My fav is probably Seneca: On The Shortness of Time. Freud's 'Forgetting Things' was also quite insightful. Just started reading Neitzche's 'Beyond Good And Evil', which should be a right laugh.
Also, where does the line fall between philosophy and sociology? Discuss.

im not a great reader of philosophy, but is the difference not philosopy is ideas about what is going on in the times/culture and sociology is measured statistics of whats going on and reasoned explanations for this.
Maybe im wrong or not saying it correct, but you get what in aiming at!

Kierkegaard's floating my boat at the mo...an altogether more wholesome Existentialism than Sartre's. Also dipping in to Baudrillard and Derrida every so often...absolutely fascinating, though I think they overstate the implications of their world-views. Sartre does aswell. What's the story with fatalistic 20th-century French philosophers? The two wars probably have something to do with it. Heard a quote recently, can't remember who by: the French are pretty much the Italians in a constant bad mood
