theatreknights are proud to present
Hippos in the Shower
THE MUSICAL by Geoff Gatt
"it's a cheeky little show"
Wonderful things can happen anywhere to anyone; Theatre knights is set to establish Belfast as the UK's cultural 'hidden gem' with this highly acclaimed musical in the Official Edinburgh Fringe Festival:
After three sell out runs of the show in Belfast (Old Museum Arts Centre, The Empire Music Hall, Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival) the time is right to bring 'Hippos' to the rest of the world this August!
But before they go… the 22-strong crew of cast and musicians are performing excerpts from the show on Tuesday 24 June at The Black Box.
'Hippos in The Shower' showcases the wealth of talent and heart that is bubbling in Belfast's emerging art scene like no other show. Indeed, this is a musical like no other – penned by well known local songwriter Geoff Gatt – bursting with magic, wit, originality and an unbounded, bizarre imagination.
Come along on Tuesday and join taxi driver George on a psychedelic voyage into uncharted cheeky fun!
"A surprise triumph of eccentric spark over limited means" Fortnight magazine
"amusingly absurd, this takes surrealism to an extraordinary end… as a musical, it is a very genuine piece" Mike Catto on Arts Extra, BBC Radio Ulster.
"And what songs! Du-wop to Surf-rock, Elvis to Godspell, all viewed through Monty Python tinted glasses." AU (Alternative Ulster) magazine
"Layered, enchanting and well produced… the songs are entertaining romps… a reminder that in Belfast, extraordinary things can be done by ordinary people" The Vacuum
