This month sees superstar poet/comedian Marcus Keeley taking the MC'ing helm for the first time since he stepped off the boat fresh from another rock and roll vomit party gig weekend extravaganza in his formative Norwich. Maybe he has some new stuff to read? Vaguely interesting stories to tell? Possibly. This month's event will be a week earlier on the 3RD OF JULY, to compensate for the dodgy nature of having it on its' usual second friday! Other than that, it's the same story; bring poems, a friend, booze and £2! Safehouse Arts Space, 25a Donegall Street, Belfast (just down from The John Hewitt) Facebook Event Page: www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=127253930568ALSO, the day after at Safehouse there's the ALTERNATIVE 4TH OF JULY EVENT, and MYH would like to offer you half price on the door tax at that event if you attend July's Make Yourself Heard! An offer that can't be beat! 4th of July event here: www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=96217259817&ref=nf

Great night had by all. Good to see people braving the disgustingly humid weather in the name of poetry.

Another cracking night at Safehouse for MYH. Good to see some new readers and audience members saying they really enjoyed it and will be back next month.
On the downside we have been missing Colin, Kristiina and Gerard come on back you guys and support the scene.

Such fun and great poetry. New readers and listeners where most welcome and thanks to steven for improvising from a couple of my lines. I like the track we are taking for innovation and experimentation at the moment. Would anyone be interested in starting at 7 to workshop before the performance proper, all the sitting about smoking and drinking isn't good for me!!! Loved that a musician also came to perform. Did miss Colin, Gerard and Kriistina, will be great to see you when you can make it again.

Well, I have to whole heartidly agree. with what Clare says... 2 Questions... 1. When is the next one? October or September? 2. Clare, fancy a duet? Of poetic nature of course! Part of some new shit I'm working on and I'm wanting to see how this works out. you (or anyone else for that matter) be up for it?

I'll be up for that of course Stephen. Marcus had already tried the workshop thing before and lack of interest meant it didn't last. I'm glad to say he is up for trying it again and hopefully we can remain committed, not in a mental home although Safe House does have it's connotations. It will be good to work with you stephen on something rehearsed as I have only ever heard your improvised stuff. Whilst I love this, I do feel that it can become stilted at times. Especially for performance proper since there are just listeners coming, who can't appreciate the work in progress difficulty it entails.

Theres a number of things that I've been working with, and I'm not wanting to perform them until I feel that I'm happy with it. I'm hoping to unveil this stuff next month, and with a bit of tweaking possibly make something out of it. One such peice is a poem that involves 2 people. Hence why I'm asking. (Well, not all of it, don't want to be huggin' or boring everyone... depending on how it turns out ) Now with the whole improvising thing, ya's will see where it all really kicks in. I've done my homework, and this stuff is gonna be interesting to see how it all comes together.
