What's your thoughts on this approach by the BBC? Most of this seems to be focused on the mainland, but there will be events (I HOPE!!!) over here in Northern Ireland to help this whole focus and awareness of Poetry being brought to the mainstream. So any thoughts on this? Should we be kicking and screaming to be heard by the BBC? Or are we happy enough to be quietly just getting on with doing our thing? So what's your thoughts on this matter? Check out www.bbc.co.uk/poetryseason/ Here's hoping that there is a poetry slam qualifier going down in our neck of the woods!

There is a poetry slam taking place here, but only for people who have won a slam in the past three years, which negates 99% of active poets in the Belfast scene. So fuck 'em.

I see what you mean but would it not make sense tho for the 1% that it does include to show that we actaully do have talent, ie your talent representing belfast poets and n.i.?

I'm not eligible. So it'd depend on how the 1% feel about the situation.

What about the poets who have never won a poetry slam? There are very few chances for poetry to get a platform in Northern Ireland never mind further afield. It neglects poets who have been around awhile and those new to the scene.
